Hotels in Halkidiki

Not every trip wants a villa. For a couple, a short stay or a first visit, a small hotel with breakfast on the terrace and someone at reception is the better choice. Halkidiki is three peninsulas an hour south of Thessaloniki: Kassandra, the lively first leg with the big resorts; Sithonia, the wilder second leg where pine forest runs down to small coves; and the Athos coast, the quiet third leg beside the monastic peninsula. The sea is shallow, warm and calm on almost every beach, the season runs from May to October, and the villas sit in villages rather than gated compounds.

The hotels on this page are ones we work with directly: family-run boutique hotels and suites in Pefkochori, Hanioti, Sani and Afytos on Kassandra; Nikiti, Vourvourou, Neos Marmaras and Sarti on Sithonia; Ouranoupoli and Ierissos on the Athos coast, near Sani, Possidi and Paliouri on Kassandra; Kalogria, Karydi and Kavourotripes on Sithonia. We book at the hotel’s own rate, add our concierge (transfers, boats, restaurant tables, a car) and stay your contact for the whole trip. What to check: whether breakfast is included; distance to the beach and whether it is walkable; parking, which in old village centres can be scarce; and the pool, which in small hotels is usually shared with a dozen rooms, not a hundred. For groups we can hold several rooms in one hotel, or combine a hotel for the grandparents with a villa for the rest.

July and August are full and hot; June and September have the same sea with half the crowds. Hotels in Halkidiki are easier to find at short notice than villas, so this is also the page for a spontaneous week in June or September.
