Pefkochori

Pefkochori is the biggest resort on Kassandra and the one with the most villas. It sits at the south end of the long east-coast beach, with a marina where the day boats to Sithonia and the Kelyfos islet leave every morning, a pedestrian centre packed with tavernas, ice cream and shops, and a beach that runs north to Hanioti without a break.

The beach is wide, sandy and shallow, organised in front of the village and free further along; the pines come down to the sand in places, which is what the name means. In the evening the village is full and cheerful, more family than Kallithea, with the promenade along the marina for a walk after dinner. Glarokavos beach and lagoon are five minutes south, Paliouri and Chrousso beach fifteen minutes further, Hanioti next door.

Villas are on the hill behind the village and along the coast to Glarokavos, from apartments a street from the beach to big villas with pools and a view across to Sithonia. Thessaloniki airport is an hour and a quarter. Pefkochori suits families and groups who want a resort with everything on foot and the boats to Sithonia at the end of the street.
