Psakoudia

Psakoudia is the beach village at the top of the Sithonia gulf, just past Gerakini on the road east. It is one of the closest Sithonia-side beaches to Thessaloniki, which makes it a favourite of the city’s families for weekends, and it has stayed simple: a long sandy beach backed by pines, a few tavernas, campsites under the trees and villas on the slope behind.

The beach runs for two kilometres, shallow and calm, with sunbeds at the village end and open sand towards Metamorfosi. The water is the sheltered gulf between the two peninsulas, warm and flat most mornings. In the evening there is the village front and, ten minutes away, Gerakini or Metamorfosi for more tavernas. Nikiti and the start of Sithonia proper are twenty minutes on; the beaches of Vourvourou forty minutes.
