Metamorfosi

Metamorfosi sits on the Sithonia gulf coast between Psakoudia and Nikiti, a village of small hotels, family apartments and villas under pine trees, with a beach that is long, sandy and shallow. It is the kind of place where the same families come every year, the tavernas know them, and nothing much has changed since the road was paved.

The beach is organised in the centre with sunbeds and a beach bar and wild at both ends; behind it, the pines run right down to the sand, so there is shade at midday. The water is the calm gulf side of the peninsula. Evenings are tavernas on the front and a walk along the beach; for anything more, Nikiti is fifteen minutes and Neos Marmaras forty.

From here Sithonia’s best beaches, Vourvourou and Kalogria, are half an hour, Polygyros and the mountain villages the same inland. Thessaloniki airport is an hour.
