Above Blue Suites sits at the highest point of Imerovigli, a village whose name comes from 'vigla', or viewpoint, on the rim of the Santorini caldera. The ten suites are built into the cliff in the traditional cave style, their curved white walls and vaulted ceilings updated with modern furnishings. Each suite opens onto a private balcony or terrace facing the sea, and most come with their own pool or jacuzzi, indoor or out, so the view is rarely more than a few steps from bed.

Below the village, the ruins of the 13th-century Skaros fortress mark the old defensive point of the island, reached via the Fira-to-Oia caldera path that runs through Imerovigli and neighbouring Firostefani. Fira itself, with its wider choice of shops and restaurants, is about 3 km away, while the village's own tavernas and cafés cover simpler needs close to home.

Inside, guests find air conditioning, satellite television, coffee facilities and a welcome drink on arrival, with maid service and laundry available throughout the stay. It is a setting built around uninterrupted sea views and a slower pace, with little need to leave the suite.
