Hotel Thalassokipos sits on a small hill in Vourvourou's Mega Tichos area, on the Sithonia peninsula, its rooms arranged amphitheatrically so that each double room looks out over the sea. Every room has a balcony or direct garden access, along with a kitchen, air conditioning and satellite TV, and the recent renovation has kept the layout practical rather than fussy. Bed linen and housekeeping run on a three-day cycle, which suits guests staying a week or more and cooking some of their own meals.

The grounds are terraced with olive trees, grapevines and flowering gardens leading down to a small, sandy and fairly secluded beach just 80 metres from the property. About 300 metres offshore, the scattered islets around Diaporos island break the swell and keep the gulf's waters calm, and Karidi beach, with its white sand and shallow water, lies a short distance further along the coast.

A café bar on site covers coffee, drinks and simple food such as pizzas and pies, while the wider Vourvourou area has supermarkets, restaurants and rental outlets for cars and boats. Ormos Panagias, four kilometres away, runs daily boat trips toward Mount Athos, and Agios Nikolaos, ten kilometres off, covers pharmacy, ATM and other everyday needs.
