Fourka

Fourka is two places: the old village on the hill in the middle of Kassandra, with its church, square and tavernas, and Skala Fourkas, its beach settlement three kilometres below on the west coast. Most visitors stay at the Skala, on or near the long sandy beach that faces Mount Olympus across the gulf, and go up to the village for dinner.

The beach at Skala Fourkas is one of the best on this coast: wide, sandy, shallow, with beach bars in the centre and long quiet stretches either side. The water is the warm Thermaikos side of the peninsula. In the evening the Skala has its own tavernas and bars on the front, lively in August and gentle the rest of the summer. Siviri is ten minutes north, Possidi and its cape twenty minutes south, Kallithea twenty minutes across the peninsula for the nightlife.

Villas are on the slope between the village and the beach, many with a sea view and a pool. Thessaloniki airport is an hour. Fourka suits families and groups who want a proper beach and a proper village rather than a resort. Ask us for a shortlist with your dates.
